Natural Treatment for Arthritis

Arthritis refers the painful inflammation and stiffness of the joints. Typically, pain, aching, stiffness and swelling in and around one or more joints characterize rheumatic conditions. Some forms of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, can affect multiple organs and cause widespread symptoms.

  • Arthritis may develop when an infection elsewhere in your body, such as an upper respiratory tract infection or urinary tract infection, spreads through the blood stream to a joint. It can also be caused by bacterial, viral or fungal infections.
  • Osteoarthritis is the most common kind especially in older patients. This is caused by the everyday wear and tear of the joints over a period of many years. Rheumatoid arthritis is common in young and middle-aged women while gouty arthritis is frequent in middle-aged men. This in most cases is caused by accumulation of uric acid in the system especially in cases of gout.
  • There are some foods that appear to exacerbate arthritis, although diet or food sensitivity or intolerance is unlikely to cause arthritis.
  • Some types of arthritis are caused by a reduction in the normal amount of cartilage tissue through wear and tear throughout life, such as osteoarthritis.

  • Arthritis is among gout and rheumatism which are all caused by uric acid poisoning. The malic acid contained in apples, potatoes is able to neutralize the uric acid and give relief.
  • You can also boil apples to a jelly form to make a very good liniment for the problem. Also a diet of bananas for 3 to 4 days is very good. Eat 8 to 9 bananas daily for 3-4days. Cucumber, carrots and red beetroot juices half a glass each twice daily for 3 weeks.
  • Physical activity and exercise have been shown to benefit people with arthritis by improving pain, function and mental health.
  • Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are natural inflammation fighters that can also help control your weight. It is important to stay at a healthy weight to ease up some of the stress on the joints.
  • Vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cabbage are full of a compound called sulforaphane, which helps slow cartilage damage in joints due to osteoarthritis. Add broccoli, Brussels sprouts or cabbage to your salad or stir-fry.
